We’re sort of used to being all-powerful when playing as the Roman Empire, but in the upcoming Total War: Attila the once glorious empire is having its trousers repeated pulled down by just abut every rival faction in the world.
One of those factions is the Sassanid Empire, who are keen to take advantage of corrupt and failing Roman governance.
I tell you what, Attila’s setting sounds a hundred times more interesting than your usual ‘build up from one city and slowly take over the world’ Total War structure. It’s cool to see a world in which there is no grand superpower, just dozens of tribes and kingdoms scrabbling around in the mud.
If that piqued your interest, you can check out a similar trailer below starring the Eastern Roman Empire, the slightly more competent half of the Roman civilisation. They’ve still got some troubles of their own though.
Total War: Attila will be released on PC next February.
