Epic Games has announced the founding of Epic Games UK, which basically means the developer is reforming longtime collaborator Pitbull Studios into a fully integrated arm of its studio.
According to an official statement Epic Games UK will primarily work on ”driving Unreal Engine 4 development in the region”.
While Pitbull did create a couple of its own games, it’s largely known for doing supplementary work on Silent Hill: Downpour and Gears of War: Judgment, the latter of which was obviously a reasonably big title for Epic. They also worked extensively with Epic on several aspects of the Unreal Engine 4 itself, ”including rendering, audio, physics, visual scripting, UI, documentation tools, platform support, localization tools and much more”.
”Pitbull has been essential in helping us develop the best tools and technology for building the next generation of games” said Epic CEO Tim Sweeney. ”They’ve been invested in UE4’s evolution since its early beginnings, and their dedication is unflinching.”
Several job advertisements on Epic’s website suggest that the team will be moved from their previous base in Sunderland to new offices in Guildford. What they will be working on is unclear, aside from the fact that whatever it is will be created on the Unreal Engine 4 engine.
