The very best way to defeat an enemy, as every general knows, is to hide in a bush with a bow and arrow and shoot him several times when he stops for a toilet break.
The new Advanced Tactics Pack for Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar adds six units that specialise in this ignoble but effective style of warfare, and it’s out now.
All of the units make use of the ambush/recon game mechanic added in patch 2.2, also out today, that lets units hide outside of the fog of war to get ambush bonuses against approaching enemies. The new troop choices are; Kush Archer, Parthian Cataphrats and Horse Archers, Berber Javelineer, Naked Skirmishers and Gallic Ambushers
“Utilise the agile Parthian Horse Archers to scout out the area, rally a powerful charge with the cataphracts and employ the Gallic Ambushers’ knowledge of the terrain to launch deadly surprise assaults,” advises developer Longbow Games.
The Advanced Tactics Pack is available now for £3.49. You can check out the other changes in patch 2.2 right here.
