Most of Elite: Dangerous’ loyal cadre of Beta testers will be happy to hear that their process will not be erased when the game launches on December 16.
The news was announced by developer Frontier Developments in a post on the game’s official forums, though the reception wasn’t one hundred per cent positive.
“Hi guys, This is just a quick update to confirm that there won’t be a wipe at launch,” wrote community manager Edward Lewis.
While a lot of players were more than happy to hear that, there were several posters that expressed concern.
“Is this wise after the shenanigans with the sell kit loophole that happened in the first week?” one user replied. “Some people are not going to be happy at all… Plus there’s all the people who’ve hung on thinking that there will be a wipe….”
That’s a reference to an early bug which allowed players to rack up millions of credits by exploiting a glitch. There were several such bugs over the course of the game’s development, hence some of the negative reactions from the community.
Elite: Dangerous will release on December 16 for PC, and it seems unlikely that Frontier will go back on this decision now. Us non-Beta players will have some catching up to do…
