In celebration of the start of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Wargaming has released an update for World of Tanks that allows players to take part in tank football matches. Yep, you read that right.
Players can form platoons of three and take part in seven-minute matches in the reworked Himmelsdorf map, with the winners being the first team to smash the ball into the goal three times using their tank.
You can only use one tank in the new mode, a custom created Tier 1 T-62A Sport, but each player who takes part will be given one for free. Footballing tankers will also be awarded the ‘Football Player 2014’ medal for exceptional performance in the new mode and will be able to earn experience points by completing special objectives within the new mode.
As always you can grab the free-to-play client for World of Tanks on the official website. World Football Championship mode will be available from June 12 through July 13. Expect the English tanks to go out on penalties in the first knockout round.
