Capcom has been working to tidy up its much criticized PC port of Dead Rising 3, and a patch that fixes a few of the most common issues has just popped up on Steam.
It’s not going to magically sway fans unhappy with the game’s various bugs and general poor performance, but it’s a start.
I’ve been playing the PC version for a while now and apart from a brief period where it refused to run at all, I’ve mostly avoided the save game bugs and crashes to desktop that have plagued other customers. Performance remains middling, but that’s not likely to change now. It’s a shame, because the game’s a lot of fun.
Not Capcom’s finest hour, but at least they’re attempting to makes things a bit better. Here’s the fairly brief patch notes:
Fixed an issue which caused game progress to not save or load correctly when Steam Cloud is enabled.
Fixed an issue which made it impossible to select native resolutions on some video card / monitor setups.
Fixed an issue which was causing the game to not shut down properly under certain configuration.
