Grundislav Games and Wadjet Eye Games are bringing the roaring twenties crime adventure A Golden Wake to PC, Mac and Linux this October 9, and they’ve just opened up pre-orders.
Set in the glitzy, Gatsby-esque suburb of Coral Gables, A Golden Wake casts you as wannabe entrepreneur Alfie Banks, a young whippersnapper trying to make his fortune while doing his best not to get killed by the mob.
Look at it, it’s bloody lovely. Captures that retro point and click adventure feel perfectly. I’m a sucker for the early 20th century backdrop, too, which is one we don’t get to see all that often in video games.
The town where the game takes place, Coral Gables, is a real place that experienced an unprecedented real estate boom in the twenties. The official website says the game is ”based on actual events and featuring real life locations and historical figures”. That means you’ll be hanging around with a whole bunch of ”shady salesmen, cutthroat bootleggers” and ”corrupt politicians”. Sounds fun.
Pre-ordering the game nets you a free downloadable version of the game’s soundtrack, which will be sold separately on Steam after the game’s released.
