Valve’s worldwide Dota 2 championship, The International 2014, has gathered together a prize fund of more than $4 million. The fund was generated in part by sales of The Compendium, an item that allows fans to watch and keep track of the latest tournament events.
$2.50 of every Compendium sale is contributed to the overall prize pool. Last year $2.8 million was raised, but the growing popularity of the eSports scene has lead to a pretty dramatic increase for this year’s tournament.
You can find a full list of the stretch goal prizes that will be offered to the DotA 2 community here upon a certain level of Compendium sales here. The top level, a whopping $6 million, will offer Compendium owners the chance to customise buildings in their base. Other prizes include new music and environmental effects.
The International 2014 finals will take place on July 18-21 at KeyArena in Seattle.
