Update 10 will finally let Mayors play their cities without the need of the Internet, which should also help the now budding mod community flourish with even wackier ideas.
Of course the super-duper dream of having bigger city sizes is off the table, as Maxis say it’s not something they are willing to pursue after ‘investigating’ the matter last year.
Sadly Update 10, while finally letting us play offline, probably won’t be addressing the bugs and glitches of the GlassBox simulation itself which can eventually build to such high levels those cities are crippled. Commuting between cities - whether workers, students or shoppers - still remains unreliable.
Update 10 is in final testing. Almost there Mayors.

Maxis will apparently be releasing more detailed information about Update 10 closer to release. Numerous DLCs have release for SimCity since launch with an expansion adding futuristic technologies, which both soothed and irritated certain flaws in the game simulation. Hopefully Maxis opens up communication more with the community.
