Turtle Rock Studios have revealed two more of Evolve’s playable characters, in addition to assault class soldier Markov. Unlike him, these two new guys have fantastic facial hair.
In an ongoing reveal series on Game Informer, the developers lifted the lid on the support class character Hank and the trapper Griffin.
Hank, as you might imagine from a support class, focuses on ”maximizing the amount of destruction that his squadmates deliver and increasing their survivability.” He packs a shield gun which gives other players a temporary invincibility buff, a powerful laser cutter, a cloaking device and a cigar. He can also call down orbital strikes over a large area.
Griffin, meanwhile, is more about about locating and cornering the beast. He’s got a harpoon gun that can tether the creature and stop it from escaping, sound spikes that locate the monster if it’s lurking nearby and a submachine gun, which sounds a little boring compared to all the other goodies on offer. His last trick is a ‘mobile arena’, which covers a small area in an inescapable force-field.
Combining Griffin’s ability to contain the beast with Hank’s buffs and Markov’s damage will be key to success. Next up in the series is a look at the Medic class. We sort of know what that one does.
