Worlds of Magic has been on Steam Early Access for a month now, and it’s just received its first major content update, adding a new race, new heroes to lead your armies and a new crafting system.
The new Orc race is good at pretty much what you’d expect Orcs to be good at - destroying and conquering. Developer Wastelands Interactive describes them as the “perfect faction for early game expansion.”
In addition to burly green-skinned raiders wielding axes, the update adds various heroes and champions that you can hire to lead your armies, a new crafting system for kitting out those heroes with fancy magical trinkets, and the new world of Fire, an elemental plane with its own features, resources and creatures. you can check out the full patch notes here.
If you’re unfamiliar with Worlds of Magic, it’s a fantasy 4X game inspired by classic title Master of Magic. You play a sorcerer lord waging a war across multiple planes of existence, raising armies and gaining power in order to destroy your enemies.
Currently in Early Access, Worlds of Magic is expected to launch in full sometime next year. Here’s a trailer with an unusual soundtrack.
