Activision has posted the minimum required PC specs for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on the game’s Steam page. No recommended specs, just the very least you’ll be able to get away with.
The game might be a couple of weeks away, but that hasn’t stopped Activision from also releasing a ‘launch’ trailer for the near future shooter. Rock soundtrack? Check. Soldier chaps shouting ‘Hoo Rah’? Check. Kevin Spacey hamming it up like a pro? Check and check.
You can see the minimum requirements below. Fairly reasonable, though that 6GB of RAM sticks out like a sore thumb. Call of Duty: Ghosts had a similiar requirement - until PC gamers pointed out to Activision that actually the game didn’t need that much, but had a hard-lock on that number for an arbitrary reason (thanks Incgamers). The developers subsequently patched things so those with just 4GB could play. Hopefully that won’t happen again.
Minimum:
OS: OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit / Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Processor: Intel® CoreTM i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD PhenomTM II X4 810 @ 2.80 GHz or better
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 450 @ 1GB / ATI® Radeon™ HD 5870 @ 1GB or better
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 55 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX-compatible
You can check out the launch trailer below. ”What you’re seeing is advanced warfare,” says our man Spacey, and he’s not wrong. While it’s unmistakably Call of Duty (read: gung-ho macho nonsense), there’s a liberal sprinkling of hi-tech toys throughout the video, which focuses entirely on the game’s singleplayer campaign.
Think the future bits from Black Ops 2, but with a bunch of even wackier gear; nanobots, armoured tank suits, jetpacks and a bunch of other stuff that looks like it’ll be fun to get our hands on. You might have forgotten thanks to the incredibly tedious Ghosts, but Call of Duty can actually be quite fun when it tries. And so far it looks like Sledgehammer are indeed trying.
We’ll see if this marks a return to form for the series next month. Advanced Warfare will be released on November 4 for PC and consoles.
