Veteran developer and studio head Jade Raymond is leaving her position as managing director at Ubisoft’s Toronto studio after ten years with the company. According to a press release sent out yesterday she’s looking to “pursue new opportunities.”
Raymond started out as a producer on the first Assassin’s Creed game before moving on to two other big-hitting titles, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Watch Dogs. She also co-founded Ubisoft Toronto, which is currently working on Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
“I’ve spent 10 extraordinary years at Ubisoft, and I am proud to have been part of many of the best teams in the industry making truly remarkable games,” she said in statement released yesterday. “This is one of the hardest decisions of my career, but the Toronto studio is strong and on a solid path. I’m confident that now is a good time for me to transition leadership of the studio to Alex and to pursue my other ambitions and new opportunities.”
The ‘Alex’ mentioned there is Alexandre Parizeau, who’ll be taking over the vacant managing director position at Ubisoft Toronto. Raymond hasn’t revealed what she’s up to next, but promises more information soon.
