The second Beta for space-faring simulator Elite: Dangerous will be coming at the end of the month, developer Frontier Developments has announced.
Beta 2 will allow you to progress from the ‘Harmless’ prestige level all the way up to ‘Elite’. You won’t be short of places to visit, either, because there’s now over 500 star systems to explore.
To explore those distant star systems you can buy yourself an Asp Explorer. Frontier describes the new ship as ”very versatile” and says its design parameters and layout ”can accommodate modules that make it a perfect ’˜grand tourer’ for your voyages of exploration.”
There’s a whole heap of new models and mods to try out, from Life Support modules to Engines, Hyperdrives, Power Distributors, Sensors, Shield Generators and Cargo Racks. The bad side is that all these systems are now subject to wear and tear, meaning crashing into things is even less advisable than it was before. There’s also a bunch of new locations and facilites to visit, including remote research bases, truck-stop style Outposts and more.
Sounds like a pretty big content update. Check the full list of new toys in the latest Elite newsletter here. Elite: Dangerous Beta 2 goes live this September 30.
