Krillbite Studio has announced that their horror title Among the Sleep, which casts you as a two-year old trundling around in a spooky house, will come to PC on May 29.
Among the Sleep made just short of $250,000 from a Kickstarter campaign with a $200,000 goal back in May 2013. The developers hope to approach the horror game genre from a new angle, mixing a child’s perspective with the shifting, surreal nature of a dream sequence.
”We have many goals with Among the Sleep,” say the developers, ”one for instance being our desire to tell a compelling story both through an interesting storyline and through metaphor, relating to what actually evokes this fear and confusion in the child. We aim to include the surrealistic theme of dreams and children’s imagination, both as a setting and an active part of the game.”
”A lot is going through our minds now,” write the Krillbite team on their Kickstarter blog. ”There’s both lot’s of stress and joy in finally being able to share a project to the world. It’s also been a long ride for us, so it’s not without melancholy that we are now gazing upon the end. But it is also with excitement and pride! We cannot wait to share the game with the world, and in turn having the world tell us its thoughts. And feelings.”
They promise to keep working on refining, bug-squashing and optimising all the way up to that May 29 release date.
