Major League Gaming has handed pro Call of Duty player Patrick “Aches” Price a four match Pro League ban. He’s also banned from taking part in the upcoming NA 2K Tournament this July.
MLG say the ban was issued for ”repeated harassment of MLG employees and conduct detrimental to the league”.
Price received the ban after registering vocal dissatisfaction with new rules from MLG that prohibit its matches being streamed on other websites outside MLG.tv. The Evil Geniuses captain made it clear he wasn’t too happy with the decision, but it was when he broadcast the emails of MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni and event organiser Adam Apicella that things began to get heated. Internet folk did what they love to do: sent reams of threats and harassment to the two MLG staff members.
”Since the inception of MLG in 2002, we’ve abided by a strong set of values and rules in order to operate the league in a professional manner,” reads the MLG statement. ”Similar to traditional sports leagues, we hold our Pro Players accountable for their actions. Unfortunately, the recent behavior of one player requires disciplinary action.”
“Aches” Price is a big name in the Call of Duty gaming scene, so he’ll certainly be back once his ban runs out. Let’s hope he doesn’t turn into the Luis Suarez of professional eSports. Judging by the picture below, posted recently on his Twitter, he’s taking things in stride.
