Kasedo Games, the digital-only branch of Kalypso Media, has announced a procedurally-generated tactical RPG called Crowntakers, set for release later this year on PC and tablets.
The King’s been abducted, and that’s bad because it was your job, your one job, to protect him. It’s okay though, because he turns up in your dreams to command you to come rescue him from the evil Duke who kidnapped him.
You’ll hire a bunch of mercenaries with their own special skills, upgrade your character with unique gear and weapons, and take on a bunch of evil monsters in hex-based levels.
Combat in Crowntakers looks a little like the hex-based tactical battles from Heroes of Might & Magic, albeit with smaller squads. Not sure if it looks quite as suited for the PC as it does for mobiles, but with randomly-generated maps, character-leveling and quests to embark on, it does at least sound like there’s a decent amount of content here.
Crowntakers is due out for PC, Mac and tablets later in 2014.
