Developer Dreadlocks has announced they’ve decided to proceed with moving their story-driven, side-scrolling action stealth game Dex into beta instead of delaying it. However the indie team warn it’s rather ‘raw’.
It can be played from start to finish but it’s ”far from polished” and should be avoided for those wanting to fully experience the cyberpunk tale. This beta has ”dozens of new locations” and NPCs to interact with.
For now the beta is limited to Steam, and is only accessible by selecting the beta build through the game’s properties window and selecting ‘Dex - Public Beta’ from the drop-down menu. Otherwise you’ll be playing the older December build, which has ”fewer features and less content,” but is better polished.
”The main reason it feels unpolished is that although we have most of the stuff done – basically everything between Start and End – the very start (first two locations) and the very end (last chapter) are in rough-sketch form (not only visually, but also in terms of sound, music, and gameplay).”
”We strongly encourage everyone who simply wants to enjoy the game to wait for the final release, as the many final polishing touches, the inclusion of voice acting, and the final rounds of testing, bugfixing and balancing will make a huge difference to your gameplay experience.”
Dex is available to buy on Steam Early Access for £14.99.
