Those of you with a PC copy of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round who were hoping to be able to actually play the game online at some point are going to be stuck waiting a little longer.
Developer Team Ninja has apparently found some “major issues” during its Beta testing phase, and as a result the full release of the game’s online modes has been pushed back indefinitely.
“We originally announced that we would release the update by the end of June 2015,” the developer writes. “However, due to major issues found during the beta test, we will be postponing the release of the update. We apologize for the last minute notification and regret deeply the trouble we have caused our Steam customers who were looking forward to the online functionality. We will update the website with a new release date as soon as it is set.”
It’s really been a pretty crappy few days for PC ports, hasn’t it? Dead or Alive 5 launched on PC earlier this year with a bunch of extra DLC, but missing that key online component. Considering that fighting game fans tend to like a competitive challenge, not being able to challenge other players around the world was a fairly major omission.
“We will continue to offer the beta version,” Team Ninja promises. “However, for users who have experienced issues which made the beta version unplayable, we ask that you revert back to the offline version to continue playing the game.”
There’s a guide to doing just that here.
