Just Cause 3 has been announced complete and the release date is coming in just under a month, but with Just Cause 3 being wrapped up and Mad Max finished, it would appear the studio is downsizing. 12 developers were let go from the New York office according to a report at Game Informer.
According to an email from a representative within Avalanche, the downsizing comes as a direct result of being overstaffed due to the high-level projects (Mad Max and Just Cause 3) that are now coming to an end. “We have just completed one project and are currently wrapping up another. In starting up our new projects, we were not able to perfectly match the team sizes and skill sets of the previous ones,” the email stated. “This unfortunate event does not affect any of our current projects, and we’re taking measures to avoid situations like this in the future.”
Certainly, it is disappointing to see some folks outed as these projects come to a close, but the tease of new projects on the way is of note. One can only guess what the explosive-inclined studio has up their sleeve next.
