Harebrained Schemes’ Kickstarter to resurrect the classic turn-based tactical strategy mech RPG Battletech has been an unqualified success, and now the crowdfunding effort has hit the $2,5M mark with a day left to go. The stretch goal that was achieved unlocks PvP play.
The developer directly addressed whether there would be any other stretch goals beyond the $2.5M with a resounding ”No.”
”As we said in our first Live Stream Twitch Q&A session, after Stage 4 is unlocked, additional funding will go towards polishing the features and content we’ve already committed to,” explained Harebrained Schemes. That didn’t preclude the use of funds after the game is polished to add new features, such as co-op campaign gameplay.
Harebrained Schemes also revealed some metrics involved with the Kickstarter. According to the studio, the crowdfunding hit its $1M goal in just 24 hours. 36,000 people have backed Battletech with an average pledge of $65. They compared that average with that of Shadowrun Returns, which enjoyed an average pledge of $48.
