Mighty No. 9, illustrator and Mega-Man co-creator Keiji Inafune’s Kickstarted homage to 8-bit and 16-bit action platformers, has been pushed back, and will no longer be released in 2015.
Amazon and Gamestop both now have the game listed for a December 31, 2016 release, and although this has not yet been officially confirmed by publisher Deep Silver and Inafune’s studio Comcept, Gamestop has revealed to Game Informer that the delay was initiated by the publisher.
Oddly enough, the Steam version of the game is still listed for September this year, so either that has yet to be updated, or we’re looking at an issue with the console version.
Kickstarted back in 2013, Mighty No. 9 raised an impressive $3.8 million in pledges. It was originally slated to release in April, but as you may have noticed, it didn’t. We’ll keep an eye out for an official statement from either Deep Silver or Comcept.
