Let’s forget about the horrible DRM issues that plagued Anno 2070, and just hope that sequel Anno 2205 doesn’t treat its players as potential criminals quite so blatantly. Because it’s looking very nice indeed, as this trailer from Gamescom shows.
Continuing the near-future theme that the Anno series now favours, the game’s main theme is humanity’s increasing need for raw resources - a need that will eventually drive us into space.
Which is where the game’s new Moon colonies come in. Your space-base won’t be quite as sprawling as your futuristic cityscapes, but it’s an invaluable source of rare resources. These can be routed back down planet-side, and used to expand and upgrade your city.
Anno 2205 is due out on November 3. A planned closed Beta for pre-order customers has now been cancelled.
