The excellent Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod has received a new update. Version 0.2 is now in public Beta, and you can opt in to play by heading to the Betas tab in your Steam library.
It adds a number of new features and bug fixes, including the ability to script in-game NPCs and play as all the civilian models in the game. The menu’s been reworked too, and Steam achievements have been added.
”As there’s been an extensive number of changes, as well as a great many features,” writes the team, ”we’re giving scripters, server hosters, and curious bystanders early access to the 0.2 client and server, so that your favourite servers can give you the best possible experience on release. For everyone else, don’t fret; we’ll have the final version out for your enjoyment once we’ve worked out all the kinks.”
In case you’re intrigued by the idea of joining up with dozens of other players to wreak havoc on Just Cause 2’s island playground, do remember that you’ll need the base game to play the free mod. Anyone who sings up for the Beta of Version 0.2 will also be locked out of playing previous versions unless they opt back out.
