Square Enix announced at PAX East over the weekend that Final Fantasy 14’s first full expansion pack, Heavensward, will be available to early buyers this June.
Anyone who pre-orders the expansion will be able jump in on June 19, four days before everybody else gets a go. Pre-orders go live on March 16.
Heavensward will introduce the city of Ishgard, where players will get caught up in the thousand year ‘Dragonsong War’ between Ishgard and neighbouring Dravinia. The expansion also adds The Holy See of Ishgard, a fourth city-state, as well as new dungeons, high-end raids, gear and recipes, jobs and a new playable race.
Producer Naoki Yoshida spoke to PS Blog recently, and explained how the new jobs slot in to the game. To access them you’ll first have to level up one of the core classes.
“We were actually recently deciding what to call these jobs that don’t have a base class, and we’ve decided to call them ‘Extra Jobs.’ Just like when you can switch to different jobs when you’re at level 30, that applies to these as well. As long as any class or job is at level 30, you’ll be able to access any of these three new jobs.”
