The Game Informer piece on the newly announced Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has some very juicy intel. The official press release from Square Enix and Eidos Montreal barely sated our appetite.
Firstly, boss encounters can be tackled any way we choose - not just full combat. The number of augmentations ‘has doubled’ from Human Revolution, and we’ll be exploring events leading to the original Deus Ex.
It seems we’ll be exploring something of a ‘redemption story’ for Adam Jensen, who now works for Interpol in their new Task Force 29, which is assigned to dealing with terrorist threats from augmented individuals. However Jensen is also apparently feeding info to a group known as the Juggernaut Collective. Neither side can be fully trusted, apparently.

Eidos doesn’t want any fetch style quests popping up in Mankind Divided, and so promises that any distractions will tie into the main narrative in some way. Environments are also said to be a lot more diverse, with female enemies significantly increased in number.
We can stick to the shadows and cloak our way through all the game, or pull the trigger and go Rambo at any stage. The studio wants us using augmentations a lot more in our playthroughs and so revised the recharge abilities for Jensen. Enemy AI will be smarter and more aggressive with a lot more flanking, as well as use augmentation abilities.
There’s more over on NeoGAF as the secrets of the Game Informer issue spill. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 - no release date announced.
