As Bethesda Games Studio announced the opening of a new studio division in Montreal earlier this week, Gearbox Software has announced that they were opening a new division in Quebec City, to be called Gearbox Studio Quebec.
Unlike Bethesda Games Studio Montreal, the Gearbox’s new Canada-based studio will be developing AAA games, led by Sebastien Caisse, whose resume includes Sony, Microsoft, and CBS. His co-head is former Activision art director Pierre-Andre Dery, who worked on such games as Skylanders, Far Cry, Deus Ex and World of Warcraft.
In a press release, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford stated, “We are fortunate that there is a lot of demand on us to deliver our brand of interactive entertainment within the powerful franchises we have at Gearbox Software and the challenge for us is growing to meet this demand.” Gearbox had already build a new, expanded headquarters in Frisco, Texas.
No projects have been announced for the new studio as of yet.
