Trendy Entertainment has announced that the major Harbinger Awakens content update for its tower defense action-RPG Dungeon Defenders II is now live, adding new maps and holiday goodies.
The Harbinger Awakens includes three maps, some new, some returning, as well as a battle aboard an airship against a boss from the original game. In addition, the DLC includes special winter lockbox drops on the snow maps, which contain time-limited accessories like Santa hats, reindeer horns, and a chance to earn both standard and holiday-themed costumes.
Another important change is that the update makes getting to level 50 quicker, as the endgame content level requirement has been lowered to 40, giving players more XP chances as well as getting to enjoy the previously max level missions faster. One of the results is that loot drops less, but the actual drops bring better gear, and will match the classes of the heroes it drops for. Shops will likewise have gear specially for the class of the hero shopping.
Speaking of gear, the update also adds new legendary weapons for each class, including the Squire’s Crystalline Saber, Monk’s Crystalline Twin-Blade, Huntress’ Bow-Blaster and Apprentice’s Blaster-Caster. They must first be unlocked before they can be permanent drops in-game.
Dungeon Defenders II is free-to-play and currently in Early Access on Steam. Players can check out the official Dungeon Defenders II site here.
