CI Games’ Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 feels like a bit of a make or break entry in the sharpshooter series, which has had some good moments, but often failed to live up to its fairly simple premise.
The third game is attempting to fix that by adding more open, expansive levels, a more varied array of options for approaching each mission (rather than crouching in a bush and getting shot in the head repeatedly by the deeply unfair AI), and improved sniping mechanics.
Interestingly, CI appears to be easing back on the actual sniping, or at least adding some more traditional shooter elements. According to a member of the team: ”Instead of just shooting your way out of trouble, you’re actually fighting your way straight into it.”
The game’s out in June next year. It will be interesting to see if CI Games can finally find the balance they’ve been looking for.
