The fine fellows over at Klei Entertainment are hard at work on another expansion in the enjoyable Don’t Starve series. This time, players will be exploring tropical survival in Shipwrecked. What’s more, Klei will be giving fans Early Access to the game via Steam.
Announced in a post on the Klei Entertainment forums today, Shipwrecked will find players in a tropical archipelago full of all new strange creatures and dangers as they attempt to keep themselves alive and well. The game will be fully playable and will work with or without Don’t Starve: Reign of Giants. Unfortunately, Shipwrecked will start out as a single player experience, so there won’t be compatibility with Don’t Starve Together in the beginning of Early Access.
Klei Entertainment is extremely confident in the support of their loyal fan base, citing the feedback they’ve received on previous Steam Early Access games as a good reason to proceed with Shipwrecked in the same manner. “Frankly,” said the post, “we’d be fools to not involve you again when it comes to the development of Shipwrecked.” Steam Early Access will be the only way to play it until it’s released.
Shipwrecked will be available for Early Access on December 1st. You’ll need the core game in order to play.
