Free-to-play team-based brawl-athon, Heroes of the Storm, will be officially leaving its crazy beta days behind June 2nd. However it will be going into open beta from May 20th until launch, says Blizzard.
The studio call it ‘accessible for newcomers’ but also ”challenging enough for veterans” in the MOBA genre. 30 playable heroes across 7 dynamic Battlegrounds await in Heroes of the Storm.
You don’t have to take on other players as a co-operative mode lets everyone team up against the AI, but there’s also a ”highly competitive, draft-style ranked play” for those who like PvP.
“With its focus on team play and fast-paced fun, Heroes of the Storm is a fresh take on a very popular genre,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of the studio. “We’ve built Heroes of the Storm in a way that makes it accessible to new players, but also challenging enough for veterans who really want to put their skills to the test. We can’t wait to see what Heroes brings to the co-op and competitive scenes once the Nexus opens up to everyone.”
More heroes and battlegrounds will be added to Heroes of the Storm overtime, and heroes are customisable with ”a stable of special mounts that help them cover ground on the battlefield more quickly.” If there’s one thing Blizzard knows, it’s a stable game economy. Nailed it.
Heroes of the Storm begins open beta May 20th and officially launches June 2nd.
