It’s a busy day for Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to announcing three of the most iconic characters in the original trilogy as playable heroes, DICE has also announced three new game modes that will be available for play. The three modes are Heroes vs. Villains, Battles, and Training Missions.
Heroes vs. Villains pits two teams of six against one another with three hero and villain characters on each side alongside three additional normal soldiers. The purpose of each side is to slay all of the heroes or villains on the other team or have the most heroes or villains left alive at the end of the round. These matches are meant to be short and fast-paced. More details can be found here.
The next mode up, Battles, consists of you playing against A.I.-controlled enemies, 1vs1 against another player, or player against player with the A.I. taking up each player’s side and fighting against itself as well. The goal of Battles is to kill your enemies and collect tokens that fall from their deaths. The first team to 100 wins. You can play as soldiers or play the second variation, Hero Battles, in which you will take up the role of either Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. The page on Battles mode can be found here.
Finally, Training Missions are exactly as they sound. They’re set to allow players to play through a series of trials and objectives that will familiarize them with what they’ll be doing in online matches. There’s five total training missions and a tutorial that will take you through the in and outs of playing as Imperial soldiers and heroes and Rebel alike. The details are here.
Battles, Heroes vs. Villains, and Training Mode are set to release alongside eight other modes already announced for the game upon launch in mid-November.
