The new snowy Adventure Zone coming to Diablo III with Patch 2.3 now has a trailer from Blizzard. In their Ruins of Sescheron preview blog on Battle.net they tease more of this region’s past and present fate.
Sescheron fell to the mighty legions of Baal, the Lord of Destruction, in his march on Mount Arreat - which didn’t turn out so good for the forces of light guarding the World Stone. This new zone is found in Act III.
”Sescheron was once a living symbol of united Barbarian tribes. Its gates guarded the lone path to Sanctuary’s most precious treasure, the Worldstone, and the Children of Bul-Kathos were tasked with defending those gates. They had done so unerringly for countless generations. It was believed that the city would never fall, and the people of the Northern Steppes would always stand vigilant.”
”In its final days, Sescheron was ruled by Chief Elder Kanai, who was not only loved by the people, but being considered to sit upon the Immortal Throne. Such a high honor had only been bestowed upon two others in the past, including Bul-Kathos himself.”
Perhaps the best thing to arrive with Patch 2.3 isn’t the new zone itself but Kanai’s Cube, which is billed as the ‘successor’ to Diablo II’s Horadric Cube. Among the new cube’s features is the option to breakdown Legendary items and take on their unique perks as passive skills.
