MMO TERA has received a hefty new update that adds a bunch of new content, including new 5 player dungeons, a 5v5 PVP arena, and guild activities and rewards.
The update also adds new Skycastles, floating houses that hover over the two main cities in the game. Guilds can compete for ownership of these halls via a new Crusade system in PVP and PVE.
The top 10 guilds in each league each earn one access to a Skycastle for the duration of the next Crusade, which lasts four weeks. It’s like renting a holiday home, basically, but instead of putting down a deposit you have to battle hordes of rival bidders to the death.
“A Guild Master can use Prestige Points to customize a Skycastle’s appearance,” explains the game’s Western publisher EnMasse. “They can opt for a simple Skycastle, or choose to make it grandiose. They can spend Prestige Points to add NPCs to the Skycastle such as a broker, bank, or merchants for everyone in your guild to use. Also available are cosmetic merchants, who let you wear various cosmetic items for free while in the Skycastle. (These items expire 15 minutes after leaving the Skycastle).”
Lording it over the peasants below from your floating palace has got to be pretty satisfying. When you’re not doing that you can tour the game’s newly added dungeons. EnMasse gives us a few details on what to expect:
“Players can also battle through new dungeons instances included in the update; Sky Cruiser Endeavor, where they take to the skies to recapture the Valkyon Federation’s most advanced airship from enemies that have turned it against them, and an updated hard mode of the popular underwater dungeon, Bathysmal Rise. Additionally, players looking to test their mettle against each other can participate in the Champions’ Skyring, an updated 5v5 arena that provides the ultimate test of PvP skill.”
TERA’s latest update is available now, and should be applied automatically when you start up the game’s launcher.
