Space battle MMO Star Conflict has received a new update that adds Dreadnoughts, huge capital ships that cost an absolute bomb, but make up for that by turning your enemies into shrapnel in short order.
Because they cost so much to create, Dreadnoughts and the new PVP Dreadnought Battles mode are available solely for corporations, but solo players or smaller groups can still join in by registering as mercenaries. That means you still get to see the three new classes of Dreadnought - the offensive-focused Maelstrom, drone support Liberator, and heavily shielded Nemesis – kick lumps of metal out of each other.
If you happen to own a corporation (well done on that by the way), you’ll first need to build a shipyard before you think about crafting your own Dreadnought. Then comes the hull, the engines, and all the many, many gun turrets. Finally you’ll need to send your corporate buddies off to collect enough iridium to finish construction. It’s not cheap, basically.
Alongside the new ships you’ll find around 300 new quests, new locations, two alien types and various other bits and pieces. To celebrate the addition of proper capital ship battles, developer Star Gem is currently offering Star Control’s available DLC for 50% off on Steam.
