Which is preferable; freezing to death in a snowy wasteland, or being devoured by something unspeakable that slithered out of a swamp? You’ll be glad to hear that both options are now viable in Ark: Survival Evolved.
Today’s content update adds two new Biome regions to the game’s island setting, snow and swamps. Both come with their own unique flora and fauna, and you’ll need to scrape together certain items in order to survive each zone.
Swamps are fertile and full of unique plants to harvest, but also chock full of prehistoric snakes, gators, bugs, piranhas, and ”the all-new Beelzebufo gigantic frog”, which you can tame and use to jump over obstacles. Which sounds like the best thing ever.
Snow zones are lethally cold, so you’ll need to bring fur clothing to keep yourself warm. You’ll also find packs of direwolves, which you can tame if you fancy yourself a bit of a Stark.
The patch should be available now.
