UPDATED Actually, things are a little worse than we thought. Eurogamer reports that hidden in DoA5’s Steam FAQ is the confirmation that the PC port lacks Steam achievements, Steam Cloud support, and keyboard customisation. Not only that, but the effects are, according to KOEI, ”equivalent to the PS3 version”, rather than the improved next-gen version. Team Ninja’s enhanced ‘Soft Engine’, which allowed for improved player models, is missing, as are improved shadows and the Danger Zone and Crimson battle stages. Might be best to hold off on this one, folks.
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is available now on PC, which is good. If you want to play online multiplayer though, you’ll have to wait up to three months for a patch. Which is bad.
Yes, while the Steam PC version of Team Ninja’s brawler features 4K support and even (my god) anti-aliasing, it doesn’t yet allow you to beat up your friends online.
”An online multiplayer mode is expected to arrive in the form of a patch within three months following the game’s release,” writes publisher KOEI in a press release sent out today. ”Until then, a 10% off discounted price will remain in effect.”
The discount is something I suppose, but it’s bizarre to release a fighting game like this without online play at launch. We’ll keep an eye out for further updates from KOEI.
