Today, EA hosted a livestream event from their UK branch in which they discussed the upcoming free DLC for the Star Wars: Battlefront, The Battle of Jakku, which releases tomorrow (December 1) for those who pre-ordered the game and December 8 for all other players. In concluding, EA dropped a new cinematic reveal trailer for the DLC showing off a Walker Assault battle on the new Jakku map.
The new map hosts a sandy terrain filled with dunes and rocky surfaces, not incredibly far from the Tatooine terrain, but with the addition that Jakku’s map contains a sea of destroyed ships and wreckage to traverse and fight among. The ship graveyard provides a stark and interesting backdrop to the action as Imperial troops and Rebel resistance travel and fight through destroyed Corellian Cruisers and Star Destroyers with a great and active theater of other starships and warships fighting overhead in orbit.
The Battle of Jakku looks to be just as intense and interesting as other maps of the game, not to mention filled with its share of Star Wars Easter eggs and lore. Battle of Jakku is supposedly the first of not DLC in general, but also additional free DLC to be announced later on, featuring two new maps and a new Turning Point game mode.
Star Wars: Battlefront was released on November 17 in the Americas and November 19 in European markets. See what our reviewer thought of it here.
