Bitbox has announced that the studio has posted a new update for their medieval sandbox game Life Is Feudal, which is currently in Steam Early Access. The update adds new weather effects including rain and snow.
The weather will have a definite effect on gameplay. Snow, for example, will hinder players when it piles up. ”If left to accumulate, snow will not only slow you down on roadways (removing the associated speed bonus), it can eventually smother your fields and destroy your crops,” warns the developer. However, players can also build snowmen and have snowball fights as well.
Rain and wind also influence the world as well. According to Bitbox, wind affects trees and ”each season will have a certain set of different weather types and each weather type affects the growth rates of trees, cattle and farm harvesting yields.”
Not everything dealt with weather in the new patch. Players can now craft large animal traps, which can do a good amount of damage to humans, horses and other beasts when stepped on. Speaking of animals, they now leave visible footprints when the players start actively tracking them.
