Druids just don’t get a fair shake. They’re a fantasy character class that can both control the forces of nature and transform into killer beasts, yet they barely rank above bards in the hierarchy of classes. What if we gave them sweet guns?
Well, Square Enix is doing exactly that in the latest update to their free-to-play multiplayer action game, Nosgoth. Beastmasters will use ”primal magic” and ”powerful firearms,” and will have the ability to “become a bird of prey,” as they hunt the Vampire hordes. They’re described as “bloody handed mystics,” which is literally the coolest way you could ever refer to a magic-using character class.
Nosgoth is currently in what we used to call beta, but which is now exclusively referred to as Early Access. You can check it out on Steam. The press release says that the Beastmaster class is “just in time for Valentine’s Day,” which leads me to believe that the folks at Square celebrate Valentine’s Day quite differently than I.
