Playism Games has announced that their Clock Tower spiritual successor, NightCry, will be arriving this Spring 2016. The game was Kickstarted early last year as Project Scissors by Hifumi Kono, the creator of the Clock Tower game series, and Takashi Shimizu, the director of The Grudge.
The game was originally due to be released last December 2015, but suffered a mild delay. In a Kickstarter update, the developer announced: ”Thanks to your support, the PC version of NightCry has been confirmed for release this spring, 2016. We are nearly there, so please stay tuned for further updates!” Nightcry is now available for preorder, both from Steam and Playism directly.
The Japanese survival horror game features a gameplay mechanic revolving around the player’s cellphone. They can call other survivors, use the phone’s light as a flashlight, and check out the “SnapNPost” SNS app for photographic clues sent by other characters in the game. Of course, players have to be careful not to attract the deadly “Scissorwalker” while utilizing their cell.
The minimum system requirements for NightCry have also been revealed:
- OS: Windows 7 / 8 / 10
- Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000, 512 MB VRAM
- Storage: 5 GB available space
