Ready at Dawn, the developers of The Order: 1886 have announced their first game since joining GameTrust (GameStop’s new publishing label). Ready at Dawn’s game is called Deformers, a colourful physics-based arena brawler.
Deformers is a third person competitive game which puts you in control of round creatures. These creatures move around the arena by rolling around, and the aim of the game is to knock the other creatures out. Ready at Dawn originally created Deformers as a physics tech demo, but it eventually became the game you see today.
Ready at Dawn have moved away from werewolf-filled single-player experiences to a local (and online) multiplayer-fest, allowing up to eight players to battle in Deformers. Battles can range from the standard four versus four games to strange groups like one versus seven.
Unlike some publishing deals, GameTrust are not asking the developers for ownership over their creations, Deformers will be Ready at Dawn’s IP even after the publishing deal is over. In an interview with MCV, Ready at Dawn president Ru Weerasuriya had this to say about the publishing deal: “Retaining your own IP is a massive thing, often the bigger publishers won’t let you do that. But in the first meeting, GameTrust said it didn’t want the IP, which was what we wanted.”
Deformers will be coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year.
