Iceberg Interactive has announced it will be publishing Grey Wolf Entertainment’s 4x space real-time strategy game, Dawn of Andromeda. The game is being described as ”plausible” as well as ”fun, immersive and accessible.”
Dawn of Andromeda sees players play as an emperor who builds an empire through colonizing new planets, interacting with other factions and characters, researching new technologies and building powerful fleets. ”Explore a galaxy filled with diverse factions, outlaws, merchants, pirate clans and mercenaries but also anomalies, black holes, ancient artifacts, ruins and much more. Arriving in a new system may provide new opportunities or open a new can of worms.”
Dawn of Andromeda is a real-time game, while the gameplay is reportedly asymmetric. ”Not all races discover space travel at the same time,” explains Grey Wolf. ”some may have yet to discover it, some may have already built a mighty empire, and some races may be naturally stronger than others.” Fortunately, it’s optional - players can set the game to be completely symmetrical, too.
Aside from the usual 4X space strategy tropes such as customizing ships with new tech and advancing through scientific ages, the one feature Grey Wolf is bragging about is the game’s diplomacy system. ”Create or join coalitions, make allies and enemies, but beware, each action you take can change how the rest of the galaxy will view you,” said the developer. ”Destroying an entire planet, or just praising or denouncing another race, can have a deep impact on the balance of the entire galaxy.” There will also be multiple victory conditions, which can be different for each faction, so ultimate goals may differ.
The game will be hitting Steam Early Access this coming April 2016. Check out the official store page here.
