Does Cleopatra suddenly not want anything to do with you? Is Qin Shi Huang oddly friendly no matter how many times you step on his toes? While some might think the instant denouncement of your Civilization is a mere bug in the system, it actually has solid reasoning behind it.
During a Gamescom playthrough of Civilization VI a few short months ago, we had Cleopatra side with us from the get-go. The Egyptian ruler didn't want any trouble, and we wasn't planning on giving it to her. So why, halfway into our play session did she suddenly spit on our shoes? Apparently because we had no military goals in mind.
Just as Qin Shi Huang will sideline you if your city appears more wondrous than his own, Arabia shuns anyone following a religion different to their own. Madness, right?
So while many are waiting on a fix for the seemingly random hate stemming from former allies, we're likely seeing the rectification of our inability to rename city-states before we see any kind of transparency on that micro-system.
And don't go thinking it's that's 1GB update that just came rolling in. That's purely assets for the 25th Anniversary soundtrack. That's much more important right now. You can't miss an opportunity like that, after all.
