The debacle that was Sega and Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines marks a dark point in the franchise’s interactive series. The game was universally panned by most critics, including our own, for its terrible A.I., numerous bugs, and overall poor quality. Now, an enthusiastic fan and modder has taken it upon themselves to overhaul the game and make it into a quality experience befitting of the Alien mantle.
The mod comes from ModDB where mod developer, Templar GFX Modding, released the mod only a few days ago. It reworks the game from the bottom up, completely tweaking human and xenomorph A.I., weapon mechanics and ballistics, and graphical features of the game. Not only does it claim to make xenomorphs the actual threat they should be, but ACM Overhaul brings a new and amazing graphical integrity to what was otherwise a bland and underperforming title.
Templar has released several overhauls in the past, previously taking on revamps of Call of Duty 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. The mods Templar produces are of generally high ilk, ranking in the top two hundred of tens of thousands of mods available for each applicable game on ModDB. At the time of this writing, the ACM Overhaul mod is ranking #1 among 25,948 other mods, speaking, at the very least, very optimistically to the quality of Templar’s latest venture.
If you have Aliens: Colonial Marines and would like to experience the game in a whole new light, head over to ModDB and give the ACM Overhaul mod a try. You can find it here.
