Rift came out in 2011, and like most MMOs in the post-World of Warcraft boom, eventually went free-to-play. Since the transition in 2013, the game’s gotten a variety of free content updates, but this year will mark the game’s first big paid expansion in three years, with an increased level cap, a bunch of new zones, and all the new content that goes along with that.
The titular Starfall Prophecy is coming to pass, and the massive Comet of Ahnket is hurtling towards Telara, accumulating bits of the planes into a mesh of marshes, deserts, forests, and volcanic wastes that make up the expansion’s five new zones. You’ll have to explore them to thwart the intelligence guiding the comet and prevent it from swallowing the world
The level cap will be pushed to 70, and you can expect new powers, new dungeons, a new raid, fortress sieges, a new tier of item rarity, active upgrades for weapons acquired by completing challenges, and a new type of gear upgrades through Planar Fragments. That’s a full list of features!
The standard edition can be preordered for $40, and includes an instant level 65 boost, an extra title, and some bonus Starfall Prophecy Tokens. The digital deluxe edition costs $60 and gets you an extra mount, raiment, and portrait frame. The expansion will release later this year.
