It may have taken some time, but we're finally getting closer to exploring the Resident Evil 7's spook house on our glorified gaming radiators - the demo will arrive on Steam December 19.
Available for PS4 players since the game's reveal back at this year's E3, PC (and Xbox) players have had no sure-fire way of strolling through the dimly lit house of Resident Evil 7's attempted return to survival horror. With the extended demo release teased for months, we're finally on the home stretch almost a month before the full game's release.
With a second - and final - patch being issued for the PS4 version last week, Capcom have finally begun counting down the days until they can scare the rest of us silly. We might not be getting VR support until 2018, but at least we're getting the game itself. The update in question will be part of the PC demo at launch adding two new rooms, a new enemy - or two - and our first demonstration of how to fend for outselves with a firearm.
Capcom have been hard at work showing us all the ways Resident Evil 7 is trying to capture the original horror vibe.
Spotted through a few handy screenshots, the PC demo will support any resolution possible by your screen alonside the much-loved FOV slider, 144Hz refresh rates and capped or uncapped frames. There's dynamic shadows, bloom, subsurface scattering, volumetric lighting and all those other strong-worded bells and whisles that hopefully point to a well-crafted PC port.
Maybe we'll finally work out a reason for the drawer finger. Maybe we could at least microwave it if the machine wasn't already occupied.
