Hellblade is an independently developed game from Ninja Theory, who previously worked on the Devil May Cry reboot. The game was rumored to be a timed-PS4 exclusive, but this rumor has recently been proven false. Hellblade will be releasing on PS4 and PC simultaneously.
The announcement was made via Ninja Theory’s official Twitter earlier today. Hellblade is the first independent project to come out of Ninja Theory. The studio has extensively detailed the progress of the game in numerous developer diaries as they seek to deliver a new experience built upon key strengths of their previous games.

Hellblade follows the story of a battle-scarred female warrior known as Senua. The story is based upon Celtic myth, but also explores themes of psychosis and mental trauma. Senua takes on a personal journey in which manifestations of her damaged mind will bend the fabric of her reality. Players should prepare for intense and fast-paced combat for which Ninja Theory has become known.
There’s no concrete date of release for Hellblade as of yet, but it’s slated for sometime in 2016.
