Paradox released some fresh info about Stellaris’ system requirements today, which are a tad bit more stringent than their previous estimations.
The new requirements for the space 4X game are hardly top of the line, but they’re presented here for your edification.
Minimum:
- OS: Windows 7 x86 or newer
- Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ 3.0 Ghz or Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 @ 2.66 Ghz
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD HD 5770 or Nvidia GTX 460 with 1024MB VRAM
- DirectX: 9.0c, Storage: 4 GB available space
Recommended:
- OS: Windows 7 x64 or newer
- Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 850 @ 3.3 Ghz or Intel i3 2100 @ 3.1 Ghz
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD HD 6850 or Nvidia GTX 560TI with 1024MB VRAM, DirectX: 9.0c
- Storage: 4 GB available space
They had previously suggested that the game could run on XP with a Pentium IV processor and ten-year-old graphics chipsets. That degree of flexibility is great, but compatability going that far back is kind of insane. Looks like the current requirements should still be manageable for anyone who’s run a 3D game in the past few years.
You can check out the full details, including Mac and Linux requirements, at the official site. According to the developers, Stellaris is ”coming soon.”
