Sure, vikings are excellent at destroying, pillaging, and plundering, but behind all that violence are the hearts of builders. Or at least the hearths of builders, forging new steel with which to drive back the opposition. Indie strategy title Northgard was revealed today, and it will allow you to build a veritable viking empire.
Explorers have sailed north to a new land filled with mysteries mystical and dangerous, and must now figure out how to survive in a hostile new world. Fierce winters threaten to freeze the vikings to death, while dire wolves and undead warriors alike haunt the lands, along with giants that will either have to be defeated or tamed.
You’ll have to build a village, gather resources, extend your borders, and do battle with enemies as you grow your viking clan. You’ll need to explore, trade, and prepare for war if you intend to have any success as a commander of Northmen.
Northgard looks very cool, and we look forward to seeing more of it soon. There’s no release date yet, but the PC-exclusive game will be on display at Gamescom.
